WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Screenwriting Contest is Now a Lab!

By July 31, 2018October 10th, 2018No Comments

WeScreenplay has updated the Diverse Voices Competition to offer even more value to writers. Starting with the Fall 2018 season of Diverse Voices, the top 4 winners will be invited to a 4-day Screenwriting Lab in Los Angeles with industry mentors and executive meetings.

Diverse Voices is a screenplay contest and now a screenwriting lab that strives to encourage stories that are told from perspectives that are often underrepresented in Hollywood today. This includes writers of color, women writers, writers with disabilities, writers over 40, writers in the LGBTQ+ community, and any other voices that have historically been ignored by Hollywood. The contest was started in 2016 and has been a massive success, raising over $12k for charities like Books for Kids and Array and helping winners sign with Hollywood Management Companies like Heroes and Villains, Gotham Group, and Industry Entertainment.

The Diverse Voices Screenwriting Lab is the next step in engaging the winners of the competition. Not only will winners have the chance to develop their work further, but they’ll form relationships with fellow writers and industry executives that will help propel their career. Any writer who can’t attend will still receive the amazing 3-months of development that WeScreenplay has offered all former winners.

We’re so excited for this next chapter and excited to continue to promote, encourage, and launch Diverse Voices in Hollywood.
