The Art of the Twitter Story – Featuring Sam Skyes and Chuck Wendig

By August 1, 2017No Comments

Any writer worth their salt understands that great stories come from the unlikelist of places. And as it so happens, sometimes that even includes Twitter.

We've seen it before. Take the viral sensation that erupted from a picture of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o at the 2014 Miu Miu Fashion show, for example. A few hundred thousand tweets later (not to mention a high profile deal finalized at this year's Cannes Film Festival), and an adaptation is on its way with both Rihanna and Nyong'o on board.

But that's just scratching the surface. After all, there are many forms a good twitter story can take – especially when there are professional writers involved. Don't believe us? Check out this incredible exchange between authors Sam Skyes and Chuck Wendig. Watch as what begins as a simple request between two friends eventually spins into a haunting tale of self discovery and existential angst. And ask yourself: What would you do if you suddenly and without warning discovered that you were a villain in a Hollywood movie?

Before you begin, a quick reminder: these are two writers, at the top of their games, more or less improving an entire story live for the world to see. The kicker? Not only is it entertaining, it's also surprisingly deep and legitimately thematically engaing in its own right.

Now that's writing on your feet!

Genius, right?
