Announcing the Diverse Voices Fall 2017 Winners

By January 15, 2018April 12th, 2020No Comments

This Diverse Voices contest has brought together so much amazing talent and so many incredible stories. The contest has grown quickly and, with its growth, we’ve seen more amazing scripts each season. The contest has also grown in awareness with the industry — more companies than ever before are reaching out to read the winners. Right now, last season’s winners are taking meetings and being read. Now, more than ever, there is demand for new and diverse perspectives in Hollywood.

And now, the fantastically talented Diverse Voices Winners:

Grand Prize Winner
The Face of the Earth by Amanda Bermudez
In a perilous reversal of image and anonymity, a Japanese-American model enters Witness Protection after exposing a sex trafficking ring, but her idyllic new life – and nascent romance with an erudite barmaid – are threatened by a brutal ex-flame and her own mortal obsession with the public eye.

Feature Winner
Chico Grande by Jesus Celaya
A boy in 1960’s Mexico struggles with identity- all the while obsessing over the TV Western serials of that era.

TV Winner
The Value Shopping Network by Meg Favreau
After accidentally setting her news studio on fire, type-A journalist Jen Faulk is forced to take a job at the only place she can get it—a floundering TV shopping network.

Short Winner
Midnight by Jamel Northern
Decades after a serial killer murdered 10 innocent children, a young girl fights for survival with only her mother’s teddy bear to protect her.

Please congratulate the winners here and on the Facebook Post. They worked so hard and writers don’t always get the recognition they deserve.
